How to brew coffee using "Channi"?

Just started your real coffee journey or don't have access to a specialized coffee brewing equipment? Don't worry, all you need is a strainer (channi) , hot water and coarsely ground coffee. And voila, you can make yourself a delicious cup of coffee.

What you’ll need: 

  • 16g (approximately 8 teaspoons or 2.5 tablespoons) coffee in coarse, channi grind 
  • Channi / Strainer
  • Cup (250ml)
  • Kettle or some other source to heat the water
  • 250ml hot water (1 cup) (approximately 1.5 mins off the boil)

Lets get brewing:

  1. Add 16gms coffee to an empty cup
  2. Fill the cup with hot water.
  3. Wait for 4 mins. Stir in between. 
  4. Strain using Channi to another cup.
  5. Add milk or additional water according to your liking. Voila, your Specialty Coffee is ready using as simple equipment as Channi.

Pro tips:

  • Preferably add hot water to coffee in two steps
    • First fill half the cup and wait for 30 secs
    • Fill the rest of the cup and wait for 3.5 mins
  • Brew for longer than 4 mins to get stronger coffee.
  • Dark roasted coffee require less time whereas light roasted coffee requires longer time to get extracted properly.
